Try VirtualMachine with WindowsXP? The game was originally developed during the WinXP days... so perhaps playing it on a WinXP setup will offer greater stability.

No, you can have a computer that can run the game 100FPS and have 50% or less CPU utilization, BUT it can crash a lot due to modern OS's not liking games developed for older OS's. That, and this is an EA game. Sim City 4 did this to me a lot, even back when the game was new. (cont)
