Easy peasy, just set up a farm somewhere near your hellevator with 4x5 mud squares with a single ore in the middle of each and check it again a couple game days later, always leaving 1 piece of ore in the middle of each block, and space the blocks out so that you don't go over the max allowed chlorophyte in any given distance.

i've done that before, but its just as painful imo

4x5? You can easily do 6x6 or 8x5 after buffs to spread, obviously in Cavern layer, because it's less in Underground. Also it's painful to set up at first, but afterwards it becomes a lot faster, because it grows when you're busy and you can just come down and mine them without having to look for all of the ores.
