It could be possible in a sense... They'd have it set to render the first "largest"- as it's defined now- world, then when you get to a new chunk- past where it would normally end; it would create a new file/set a new spawn point in the new place. The loading screen would pull up and recreate everything while compressing/saving the other world file. So it's more like exiting and entering a new world.

That wouldn't really be an infinite world though, since each area is separated by a loading screen.
