I'm not really sure. I'm not really great at pixel art myself (I mean, just look at the body of my Phantom boss). If possible, I copy over some vanilla sprites then edit them until I'm satisfied (which is what I did for my Mecha Skeleton). When I make original sprites, sometimes they just end up terrible (like my Fury Night) and sometimes I get lucky (like the Sentinel).

Still though do you want to see my terrible art the one that I would show is meant to be a orb but I have no idea what it is cause of the art >.<
