PC 1.4.0.5 Player and World bug

I was casually playing and then my pc restarted, when i loaded up the game again my character was wiped, had no name, and the base 100 hp and 20 mana, my world looked fine but it wouldn't load and there somehow wasn't a backup, i lost nearly 80 hours of gameplay...

So, I was going to say that because your PC restarted mid-game it corrupted your save file... but that doesn't sound right. The game isn't constantly saving, and even if you got unlucky and it happened in the middle of a save, there should still be some .bak files in your MyDocuments\MyGames\Terraria folders. Are you absolutely sure there's no backup?

It could be an old bug rearing its ugly head again as Terraria used to do this way back when, but I thought that bug got squashed years ago...

i don't have any player backup files, and even though it says i have two world backups they don't when i try to open the world with a new character

The exact same thing happened to me a couple of days ago, please let me know if you find a fix.

Guys! So was fighting moonlord but then I died and turned off my laptop. But then I opened terraria again and the same thing happened again
