7 Accessory Slots?

My friend used to play a really long time ago and I played with him recently, it came up that he had 7 accessory slots instead of 5, I was confused. He didn't know why he had this either, he just thought that's how many everyone had. Even new characters have 7 slots.
I know that there are a few mods and cheat engine scripts that do this but he didn't have those.

I had a look at his registry for his computer and found a few weird things

A subfolder "Slot7" with a value "Auth" with a really long string

And a subfolder somewhere else called "DevTest" that was empty

I tried putting these things in my own registry to see if that would give me the slots, but it didn't work, even if we logged into his steam account.

I don't know what to make of all this. Maybe I missed a registry value somewhere. Has anyone else seen this anywhere?

First off, I just want to say - editing your registry is definitely not something anyone should do without experience or understanding. The game does not have any link to the registry for these slots. There is absolutely no way to unlock more than 6 accessory slots legitimately.

There are cheat tools / methods which allow a 7th slot but none of them are legitimate.

Terraria only contains one reference to registry and that's for the bunny, anything beyond that is non-vanilla. Not to call out your friend, cause that's not my intention, but it sounds like they have pulled a fast one on you.
