Sir, there are weapons that are designed for close range, and they are by definition better than weapons designed for long range.

At close-range, True Night's Edge has higher DPS than True Excalibur.

Well, first of all, as stated above, True Excalibur has a larger swing size, and secondly, yes.... Actually, this statement does make sense, considering that the same Psycho Knife has only slightly higher base DPS, but even shorter range and lower potential DPS (due to even less impact of attack speed bonuses).
