I think it would make sense as a kind of cross between a liquid and a solid. You sink slow, like honey, but after a few seconds you have to mash the jump button to get out, and you start suffocating if your head hits the surface.

Tip for titles: Use them to give a tiny summary for your idea. Maybe title this something like "Quicksand". If you could specify things like the dimensions of it, what threat it holds, how it reacts to jumps, etc. that would add alot of depth to the suggestion and make it easier to understand. We don't all envision it the same way.
