Items Automatic Collectors

I would like automatic collectors in Terraria. They would make farming more fun and satisfying.

Something you can place on a block and connected to a chest with wire, and whenever an item is dropped on the block with the collector, it is sent to the wired chest.

thanks you that is a great idea you could just leave a farm on for tons of time and let all the items be collected while you go and do other things

Is this a thing yet? I would really like this. I know things don't spawn when your far away but I'd love to be able to be in my base working and things spawn fall into grinders get collected in chests and I can pick up the stuff at my leisure.

This would be sooo helpful for my auto glowing mushroom farm. I could leave it running and not worry about items de-spawning. So it’s a definite yes

Because mods would otherwise move that to here, I post it here: My suggestion for the item collector would be a pet that looks like a robot vacuum cleaner that collects items to the feet of your players. You get the roomba at the mechanic since she already engineered the mech bosses according to the lore, so why not a simple vacuum cleaner?

I don't see a point on commenting on this suggestion anymore as "automatic collectors" aka hoppers are already being added to the game.
