    I’m making a terraria mod where all fish attack you when fished up, but fishing is much faster and more rewarding. I’m wondering how finished the mod should be before I release the first playable version, so I made a poll.

    It's out everyone! I finally finished the Derplore Bestiary resource pack! I started working on this in april 2021 so I hope it was worth the wait. Go ahead and click the image if you're interested in downloading it, it'll take you to its steam workshop page.

    I would say make a thread! Not everyone checks profile posts and this might get buried by others.
    I sadly don't plan on using this pack (though your lore does interest me), mainly because I'm worried it'll interfere with other packs I have (not counting Googlerraria here, that one's obvious), and for a few personal reasons.

    As long as you have it lower in the list than your other resource packs, it shouldn't take priority over them and should leave your other packs alone, though I understand if there's other reasons why.

    I beat silksong steel soul!
    i then went for act 3 to try and go for 100% and died less than a minute into the act (I'm not joking)
    Act 3's intro might genuinely be the scariest section in the entire game for steel soul runs, due to the game unequipping practically everything and forcing your crest and silk skill to be the default ones, not to mention you have only 4 health at the start of that section and all the enemies you need to fight to escape deal 2 masks and steal silk on hit

    Gonna start attemping silksong steel soul in my spare time. Managed to basically finish the game already so I'm hoping it'll go well.

    I handle the pressure of a hard time limit way less gracefully than the pressure of permadeath usually, especially for games as long as this. i'll do a speedrun after the other stuff.
    I also just want to polish things up and get consistent and optimal and steel soul seems like a good environment for that.
    That and I don't know how to get the last 3% for this game (I have looked what feels like everywhere) and there is currently no info that could help me finish it off anywhere online because there are no 100% guides yet.
    Silksong is a much harder game, so beating steel soul at all seems like a monumental task I'd rather not overextend with.

    Update: lost my best run to a random nonthreatening enemy in Marrow after making it most of the way through act 1, turns out talking to your SO about various topics and getting extremely involved in the convo with him while you play video games can be a pretty major distraction :guideembarrassed:
    But hey, not the worst reason to lose all my progress. Not even close to the worst.

    I like how literally every one of the following setups has a really good niche and I can actually see myself using all of them in a playthrough:

    It might be a fun challenge for someone to guess what those niches are. Some of them are pretty obscure :)

    Not quite. The latter 2 ones use meteor pants and jungle pants respectively, so they're not as frail as it would seem.
    Here's what I feel their niches are:
    It doesn't matter which gem robe the first one is technically, the main point is that you have a gem robe on and no helmet. This actually makes Tim much much more common and allows you to get Wizard Hat more easily. The stats don't matter.
    Jungle Armor is extremely quick and consistent to obtain. It's outclassed by the 3 setups after it imo, but it's still very very serviceable at worst and available earlier than meteor which means you'll probably use it for a while.

    Here's the 4th and 5th, had to split it up due to character limit.
    The fourth setup uses meteor legs and as a result it's by far the best one aside from defense, however it still has 10 defense so it's not like it doesn't have any. This is probably the one I'm aiming for most.
    Fifth setup uses jungle legs, and is actually how you get the tech from my previous status online: having 400 max mana is what allows you to abuse the mana sickness cap and get a huge dps increase when properly micro'd on some weapons that normally can't use mana potions. You can use it with the fourth setup and manage it with loadout swap for pretty optimized dps in a pure-magic run

    I might have discovered some new tech for mana optimization for prehardmode magic weapons. could be an interesting proof of concept when I have the time.

    and, of course, it' synergizes very well with loadout swap, why wouldn't it? :)

    update: after some testing, it seems that this tech can easily pull any prehardmode magic weapon out of a mana sinkhole, resulting in the average sustained mana sickness penalty being reduced by as much as half with a few weapons! This is huge information for a pure mage challenge run!

    All that's left is to calculate how much mana sickness buildup each weapon suffers and when pulling a weapon out of the sinkhole becomes optimal for dps gain, but with this current discovery you can definitely just get away with doing it constantly and be fine.

    Update 2: I have figured out how to optimize when it's most dps-efficient to use this tech.
    It's different for every weapon, but I have an equation that can tell me when exactly each weapon needs to do it.

    Try as I might, I never seem to get rid of that one part of myself that makes me want to 100% one of the worst games of all time a third time.

    I feel like it's inevitable, wonder if I should just do it.

    There's not really a single thing it does well besides musc. The writing and character design are both terrible compared to all 3 games in the series before it, and the gameplay is offensively bad in a ton of ways.
