Game Mechanics Beam & Column Mechanics

If this have come up before apologies in advance.

I was just wondering if it would be possible to make beams/columns behave more like background walls.........in that we could put platforms across them, without breaking them?

This is a good idea provided they don't share the same layer as actual background walls, as that would break several builds. I wonder if that's possible, or if it would take a bunch of work to add another kind of layer.

Ya hopefully. I mean they did it for rope kinda sorta.
