Hi. I'm aware that this may be a bit of a long shot, but... it's the best idea I've had so far for this.

If I'm trying to make D&D-related animations, with my own little chibi versions of my characters, would it be OK to use the Terraria backgrounds as, well, backgrounds for these videos? These videos would be going on Youtube, and let's assume I credit Relogic in the opening, make it clear that I am not sponsored by them, and link to terraria.org in the description. Would this be an informally acceptable breach of copyright law, or should I avoid doing it?
 
I'm no lawyer, so take this with a shovel of salt. But I don't see an issue with it. As long as credit is given, and you inform viewers that you are not affiliated with Terraria it should fall under Fair Use so long as you're not constantly using them for everything.

That being said, I'd wait until someone more educated answers your question. So consider this just a thread bump.
