A Decoy Robot is given to you by a Mechanic in Hardmode for approximately 20 gold. It resembles a small red robot with a windup key, and a mask on it vaguely resembling a person.
It's a tool. Use the Decoy Robot to spawn a toy robot that redirects all enemies' attack focus (they attack the Decoy for a short bit). For approximately 5-7 seconds, enemies will attack the decoy as it consistently moves forward in the direction that it is spawned. After the duration expires, it falls over. This shows that the Decoy Robot is "dead", and it spawns in your inventory.
A cooldown appears with the Decoy Robot item, which lasts 20 seconds as the item is recharged for further use.
Upgrade the Decoy Robot by right clicking the item and adding certain items to slots.
Nuclear Upgrade (made with 3 Shroomite Bars): Adds the ability for the robot to explode like a nuke on death. Downside: it only moves for 3 seconds.
Bubble Shield (made with 2 Bubbles): Bubbles are bought from the Party Girl. Buy 2 and make this upgrade to make the robot absorb projectiles and release them on death towards targets. Downside: these projectiles are inaccurate.
Speed Boost (make with 5 Cogs and 2 Conveyor Belts): Make the robot move much faster, and travels more area. Downside: the robot moves more erratically, and might get stuck in place sometimes.
Laser Upgrade (Make with a Space Gun): Gives the Decoy the ability to shoot lasers at opponents.
