Does anyone else have "good but bad luck" when trying to make a new character?

What I'm mainly talking about is trying to make a mage character but getting amazing melee weapon drops, or trying to make a melee character and getting tons of high quality gems to make staffs. Keeps happening to me and I feel obligated to change my class.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

We call this 'the completely normal gameplay experience on every single character'.

Try collecting a full set of every armor. You're guaranteed to tear your hair out at least twice before Hardmode, and only one of those times will be because of mining armor.
