Spawning in Hardmode, the Empty Stomach resembles a partially bloody stomach, hence the name. Empty Stomachs are spawned in the Crimson. They are quite rare.
Empty Stomachs ignore your character. However, they uniquely follow your cursor, and float in the air. If the Empty Stomach touches your cursor, they engulf it, and render it unusable; you cannot use items, or attack. It's like the Curse effect, but not blockable with the Ankh Shield or its derivatives.
Empty Stomachs are not deadly on their own. Contact damage is nonexistent. That being said, Empty Stomachs expose you to attack by other enemies. The way to get them off the cursor is to hold the use button and shake the cursor, causing it to throw up the cursor. Only one Empty Stomach can have the cursor; other ones will just float around aimlessly until it is freed.
Empty Stomachs can be destroyed with typical weapons, but just make sure to attack around them.
A Nitrome enemy inspired me. In Hot Air Jr, a hand could follow the player's fan (used to move a hot air balloon around levels) and block its movement.
