Game Mechanics Expanded crafting

One of the sadder aspects to Terraria is discovering that most materials have a finite period where they are key to the game and then they quickly cease to be useful. What a joy to discover things like asphalt that brings new life to all the stone block and gel piled up in chests! I would love to see an expansion of late game crafting that adds complexity to the crafting side of things as well as give new uses to materials.

As for new craftable item ideas:

PDA (or cell phone) apps like an inventory manager that lets you list, search and organize all of your player placed chests' contents (and maybe even explored world chests that were left in place and still have contents along with location coordinates)- crafted from one each of all chest types and fishing crates.

GPS functionality that adds the ability for the GPS to set waypoints that would give you a visual icon on the mapview and give you an arrow in normal view showing the direction to the waypoint.- crafted from 20 blocks of the prominent soil type in each biome, 10 bars of each ore, and 20 metal detectors

TerraMap -teammates in multiplayer can toggle a shared map view so any area explored by one team member is seen by all team members on their maps.- crafted from a full stack of every herb plus a full stack of each soul type.

Just wondering - Since using the cell phone teleports you back to your spawnpoint, how exactly would this work?

It would need to be crafted with a PDA or cellphone and all the needed chests/ crates at the tinkerer's workshop and then would add another toggle switch icon below the minimap (along with the weather , time, moon phase etc.) that when switched on would bring up the app screen.
