For some reason my characters and map are all gone.

I logged on today to play with friends, and I come to see that all my characters and maps are gone, it also asked me to choose my language when I joined, if that helps answer my question, please help.

assuming you play through steam, is your cloud save good and well? should look like this :

if yes, then maybe check your terraria folder for your character/world files? you can do so by (in your steam library) right clicking terraria > manage > browse local files
from there you should hopefully be able to find everything. i'm not sure how you could randomly lose everything otherwise D-:

Since Terraria stores players and worlds locally, you must have deleted that data in some way, or you use some sort or cloud storage that removes local copies automatically (however that would usually result in Terraria crashing since it hasn't figured out how to handle that yet)
