Xbox One Game freezes when hitting Demon Altars in hard mode

hitting them pre-hardmode did damage as normal, but now in hard mode the game will freeze
tried different hammers and armors

Have you been digging alot in that world? I seem to remember one guy who had dug out the entire centre of the world. When triggering hardmode the game crashed.
 
Whoah I'm impressed! :eek: I've never seen anyone dig out an entire world.

So that's your problem. When you break an altar the game tries to spread a hardmode ore, but since there are hardly any blocks to spread it in it crashes. Maybe the 1.3 update will allow you to break altars but I doubt it.

i added about 40k sand blocks around the cavern layer, it let me destroy 4 altars
wasn't till the 4th one it added Orichalcum Ore to the sand block

only really need to remove 3-4 more to get them out of my way
so will play around with adding more sand and removing the ores that were added.
 
Oh, try making a new world and turning it to Hardmode. Then try hitting the demon altars. On a side note, it's pretty nice that you dug your entire world out. The most I've ever done is making one of my worlds completely flat, for PvP. That took about 2-3 weeks.
