Whenever I begin playing on a world, the game starts freezing every once in a while, sometimes going as far as causing the computer itself to freeze.
This issue is most prominent when I load up a Master Mode world I had just created for 1.4, to the point where I can't even cut down a tree before the computer freezes, but it also appears in my old 1.3.5 Expert mode world to a much lesser extent.
Along with this, the framerate itself has dropped tremendously. Although it can be somewhat fixed by turning on frame skip, I thought I should still report that.

Can confirm, running macOS Mojave 10.14.6, I can play but randomly Terraria will freeze my computer. I have to hard shutdown my mac to get out of the game. Framerate seems to be alright for me.

Currently, Mac/Linux are not fully supported and may have functionality issues. We are looking into increasing support for them post-launch, hopefully resolving a variety of performance issues and some other bugs along those lines.
