Console Hellevator Clarification

So I've built my first hellevator for stopping corruption and hollow

This should work right? Sorry for the bad picture quality

if it is 4 wide or filled with a non corruptible block (wood, clay or bricks) then your just dandy

I dug 6 wide and filled both sides with a one block layer with stone and snow bricks as seen on images so 4 wide and no corrupt thorns should grow right?

It certainly appears wide enough to prevent something from spreading across the gap, and the insulating blocks should definitely prevent the growth of infectious thorns, so I would say that your barrier is almost certainly impenetrable to infection.
