So me and my friend have defeated the wall of flesh we want to now beat one of the mechanical bosses! do you know what would be the best armor and weapons to defeat skelton prime?

For armor/weapons. Best armor depends on your preferences. Frost armor could be good for benefiting both melee and ranged attacks, but titanium, adamantine, oricalcum, or mythril can also serve you well.
A few good weapons to use include Daedalous Stormbow as mentioned above, the Shadowflame Now/Knife, Crystal Serpent, Toxicarp/Bladetongue are also good to have.
