How do i apply my glowmask to my sword

I've been trying to make my sword to light up in the dark but using dust is too ugly and i need to know how to apply my glow mask i made for it. I've looked everywhere and there doesn't seem to be any tutorials or guidance, please help

There are two ways to do this. Either somehow swing two weapons at once.. which might be possible.. normal swing and then layered on top, a glowmask. Or however, the other way is ModItem.Draw override. So the thing is this might only apply to items in the world, or your inventory. So it gets weird.

how do i do the glowmask technique where i layer the texture over the sprite
