So in me and Sci's latest play through we decided instead of killing the moonlord we were buying the giant platinum coin in the sky from him by defeating him with the coin gun. In this play we built a vault to store our stuff that was 59x42 with an extra 3 blocks around the sides. After we finished this we decided to try and figure out what that would actually cost to buy; here are the results.
The cost of a platinum moon.
The price of platinum is $989.60 per ounce and the mass of the moon is 7.34767309 × 10^22 kilograms. When you calculate it $26,033,362,458,730,267,704,000,000,000 is the price.
If including the average sales tax in India it comes to $29,465,823,908,714,792,456,960,000,000.
Assuming that 1 copper coin is 1 penny that would make that 29,465,823,908,714,792,456,960,000 platinum coins. Enough to fill 737,382,980,698,568,379,804 chests. If our Terraria vault (59x42 blocks) was completely filled with chests (including platforms) that would require 1,816,214,238,173,813,743 vaults. If we completely filled large worlds with replicas of the vault back to back it would take 287,968,009,857,907 large Terraria worlds. That would take up 2.8 zettabyes of storage. If you had an average of 750 gb per square inch that would take up about 1.7 square kilometers of storage space. That's a large hard drive.
