I want to make a mod but the internet isn't a good place to learn coding.
How long should this be?

Terraria should have chickens. You could collect eggs from chickens and sell them. Cows too. Get milk. Sell milk.

and about the modding:

take a look at the examples and experiment , that's what I did and though it doesn't make you instantly learn how to code but it's a good start ^^
