Language mod

I am messing with the source code of the game, and I am really into making a language mod. First to add support to pt-br.
I want to add a new menu option in the language menu (but I don't know how yet). I already translated many parts of the code. But instead of overwriting the english lines, I would like to put them under a new language selector.
Can this be done using a tapi or tmodloader or anything like that?

The main problem its to make a new menu option to choose the language itself. If this work, the game could be translated in many languages.

Back in the day, there was a mod called The Translation Mod, I think that mod had something like you mentioned but, it hasn't updated since 2012, and I don't even know if the maker of the mod is still interested in the game and modding. Maybe you should try asking him.
