tModLoader Losing is Fun - A fairness mod

    This mod adds a variety of tweaks and additions designed around removing the temptations of cheese strats and re-balancing for challenging and fair gameplay. This is an ongoing mod that I'll be adding to over time (time permitting).

    Each adjustment can be configured with the config file at 'Documents/My Games/Terraria/ModLoader/Mod Configs/Losing Is Fun Config.json'.

    Source code is available here. API now available (read this for how to use without mod dependencies).

    Note for mod authors: Mods can freely adjust config settings via. weak reference, but they are not automatically saved to file.

    • Set Horseshoe-based items to only sometimes save from falls
    • Nerfed Fetid Baghnakhs (too easily cheeses Plantera)
    • Nerfed Daedalus Stormbow (too easily cheeses everything at all ever)
    • Nerfed Reaver Shark (now equivalent to a gold pick)
    • Home-teleport items have a 3s warmup; interrupts on move
    • NPCs won't sell to you if their houses are too close together
    • NPCs won't sell to you if their houses are too far above the ground
    • Changed yoyo to slow player movement on use
    • Eternia Crystal is unhoikable
    • Nerfed Cactus Sword
    • Nerfed Snowballs
    • Buffed Amber Staff
    • Nurse now gives a stacking 3 min debuff on each use
    • Ranged weapons do not crit while moving
    • Ranged weapons crit +15% while still
    • Gravitation Potions have a 2 second cooldown between gravity flips
    • Crimson mobs (pre-hardmode) have ~1/20 chance of dropping Worm Teeth
    • Added respawn blocking during boss fights (defaults to off)
    • Nerfed Leaf Wings (reduced flight time)
    • Added hp bar for mounts (5 hits = 12 second KO)
    • Set bullets to be more expensive
    • Nerfed Chlorophyte Shot damage

    • Attempt to eliminate hoiks OR prevent hammering blocks beyond current tier
    • Slime mount can only stomp 3x in rapid succession
    • Buff EoW + Destroyer (segments get added defense from damage taken)
    • Change gem hook recipes (require a hook)
    • Set players to be un-hoikable
    • Projectile trap tiles cannot be actuated


    Installation

    Requires tModLoader (0.10). Copy the above unzipped .tmod file to your 'Documents/My Games/Terraria/ModLoader/Mods' folder to play.

    If i want have fun "losing" i will create hardcore characters, beat every boss buffed using calamity demon trophy from the beggining or try your lunatic mod, but this is going too far..... lets say for example on a future idea ("wings" are just 33% fall damage proof) sorry but this mod will ruin terraria experience, since every jump that we take "will be a leap of faith".

    Wait erase the "hoik" metod but thats evryone favorite way to kill dungeon guardian and get bone key with only starting items at hand.

    Well, if there weren't whole categories of options available in almost every circumstance (except maybe inadvertently encountering a dungeon guardian the first time) to avoid having a need for a panic button, I'd agree.

    Keep in mind, this is the same person who created a Durability mod and a Lives mod; Hamstar's pretty hardcore.

    Excuse me but this may sound "rude" but i already play his mods and they're very challenging specialy lunatic what im trying to say not everyone are hardcore gamers like hamstar, i play this game for something called "fun" but hey that's just me.

    I was pointing it out to show that all of his mods except for one (Wormholes) are meant to ramp up the difficulty, so something like this isn't abnormal for Hamstar.

    Ranged attacks don't deal (or possibly deal reduced) crits when moving. How does that sound?

    Rather then eliminating hoiks, I'd suggest the ability not to hammer certain blocks till X boss is defeated.
    • Having Crim and Ebon stone hammer-able after their respective biome bosses (Brain of Cthulhu and Eater of Worlds) are defeated
    • Being able to hammer Lizhard bricks after Golem has been defeated

    Better idea: Simply set 'cheesable' things (like the DD2 event's eternia crystal) to not be hoikable. Maybe even the player character themselves, though that would involve some work.

    What other things exist that are easily cheesed with hoiks?
