PC lost progress/characters

My son just opened the game- v1.3.1.1, on his PC, and all his character's stats were back to as if it were his first time playing, and the picture for his character was blank. He has played for almost a year- can anyone help us- Thank you

Save of character is in documents / My games/ Terraria /Players (or if modloader installed in Modloader/Players)
If you have not character save, a person have maybe delete save per error.

Else, i have not idea. Sorry
