Game Mechanics Make 2nd Tier of Old One's Army accessible right after Wall of Flesh (here is why)

Now it's accessible only after first Mech Boss. This is bad, because weapons dropped from Ogre is kinda bad. Ghastly Glaive is worse than Gungnir, for example.

Also, it's a loophole that gives access to easily farm 1st Tier with Hardmode weapons / armor.
IMO 1st Tier should be accessible only pre-Hardmode.

P.S. And yeah, don't forget to make Monk and Shinoby Armor Whip-based ;)

I like the idea of making the tier two right after wall of flesh, but then it needs some changes because ogre is very tanky, especially for pre mech weapons and, as you said, the weapons are bad :/ Honestly they need to overhaul the old ones army entirely. Ima make a thread about that now haha :D

Also, if you look at the stats, monk and shinobi ARE whip armors. They have good melee speed bonuses and pretty good defense (especially for summoner). The reason it doesn't seem like this is because the armor gives you sentries instead of minions. So it's a SENTRY based whip armor

Ichor or Cursed Flames book / Firecracker + Spiders / Onyx Blaster / Drippler Crippler or Shadowflame Knifes are more than good to destroy Ogre. All these weapons are post-WoF.

Monk Armor gives melee crit chance and melee damage. Why, if it's 'whip based' ? ;)
 
Maybe most of the ogre drops are bad
Except for the phantom phoenix

I do agree with this though. It is a little cheap that you can do that in my opinion.
 
Shadowflame bow is definitely good, but I still wouldn’t call the Phantom Phoenix mid. I would say the Phantom Phoenix is better at crowd control than most other bows (including the Shadowflame bow), so I think it’s worth having it in addition to another bow.
 
Phantom phoenix is kinda mid since it gets outclassed by the chlorophyte shotbow, which is available only slightly later into the game, stronger, and is significantly easier to get. Moving it to pre-mech would make it a strong weapon at that stage (which would be fair considering t2 OOA is challenging). The same cannot be said about the other 3 ogre drops though (yes, even the tome of infinite wisdom; if you have strong enough crowd control to beat OOA you are already strong enough to beat destroyer).

I do quite like this proposed re-tier.
 
This is unironically not enough to make the weapons viable, they all could use a 20% damage buff and the sleepy octopod needs to be double the size to be decent. The ghastly glaive also needs at least a 150% size boost to be good outside of niche scenarios.

Firstly, I'm thinking of legendary/master so thats gonna change a lot, and the problem isn't killing the boss fast, it's defending the crystal and killing the boss at the same time imo.

Also sure monk/shinobi arent whip BASED but they work. They could be tweaked toward being more whip oriented tho.
