Ok. I really want to get the slime saddle, and that means dealing with the KS spawner. Is there an easy way to get the materials needed for the crown? It seems that rubies never want to show up in the mines, and I am really looking for alternatives.

If you are far enough in the game to have freed the mechanic and you found a slime statue, you can wire the slime statue to a 1 second timer to mass farm slimes for gel.

For rubies. Exploration in general is best.
Another way is to mine up a lot of silt or slush and then use it to potentially get more rubies from the extractionator.
