Multiplayer, Plantera fail to spawn, massive lag instead

Trying to farm some Planteras and carving out huge swaths of jungle with the Drill Containment Unit mount. LAN only multiplayer map running on my computer, nobody else connected.

About 1 in 3 Planteras refuses to spawn. Instead, a ridiculous amount of lag appears instead. Sit AFK for a while, mirror back to spawn and sit some more, it never goes away. Must exit the server software and restart it for the lag to straighten out.

Never noticed it until today, but haven't been farming the jungle much since 1.3 hit.

I have the same problem, but in singleplayer! This is only after 1.3 hit.
Annoying as hell!
Though, I don't have to restart the whole game, just exit the world and enter again.
It only happens in expert mode, atleast for me.
