A tip that I heard was to destroy incorruptible blocks to boost your percentage.

Try destroying all of hell, that might help.
To be fair, it took me and two friends days to do this before 1.2.
Now you can just dig "Hellavators" and Clentaminate 360 all the way down. It'd probably take you 10 - 15 hours max solo, which is a damn sight better than the 50+ hours me and my friends had to sacrifice. Twice. And they didn't even want the Achievements, they just did it to help me.
