I have always wanted to see more variety in the game. For example: right after you beat the wall of flesh there are multiple weapons you can work towards for each class. If I was playing pure melee I could farm the snow biome for the Ice Sickle/Frostbrand, I could farm the desert monsters to get the Dao of Pow, I could farm souls to get chain guillotines/flying knife from mimics, or I could mine for hardmode ores and get a Titanium/Adamantite sword/spear. I love how the beginning of hardmode makes you think "which do I choose" sadly there are few areas in the game like this, so I made some new armors for the early game. I also made some new alternative early game ores (copper, iron, etc.)
First the zinc armor crafted with zinc bars.
Zinc replaces copper/tin and is used in the same crafting recipes. Zinc tools and weapons look just like copper/tin tools and weapons but with the zinc color scheme.
Helmet - 1 DEF
Breastplate - 2 DEF
Greaves - 1 DEF
Set Bonus: + 2 defense and 5% extra movement speed.
Tin, lead, tungsten and platinum have a bit more defense than the original ores, so zinc, nickel, silicon, and iridium will have the same defense but a bit of extra speed.
Next, the nickel armor.
Nickel replaces Iron/lead.
Helmet - 2 DEF
Breastplate - 3 DEF
Greaves - 2 DEF
Set Bonus: +2 defense and 5% extra movement speed.
Third, the silicon armor.
Silicon replaces silver/tungsten
Helmet - 3 DEF
Breastplate - 4 DEF
Greaves - 3 DEF
Set Bonus: +3 defense and 10% extra movement speed
Now, the Iridium armor. (real element by the way)
Iridium replaces Gold/Titanium.
Helmet - 4 DEF
Breastplate - 5 DEF
Greaves - 4 DEF
Set Bonus: +3 defense and 10% extra movement speed.
I liked how you could combine Titanium/Adamantite bars with forbidden shards or frost cores to get new different armors with different stats. I used the same ideas but used the gold/platinum/iridium bars to make new pre-hardmode armor sets and weapons.
The Waste armor.
Waste armor is crafted with iridium/platinum/gold bars, sand and antlion mandibles.
Helmet - 3 DEF, 10 iridium bars, 15 sand, 10 antlion mandibles.
Breastplate - 4 DEF, 15 iridium bars, 25 sand, 15 antlion mandibles.
Greaves - 3 DEF, 10 iridium bars, 15 sand, 10 antlion mandibles.
Set bonus: +10% throwing damage, velocity, and critical strike chance.
The Sleet armor.
The sleet armor is crafted with iridium bars, ice blocks and Essence of Aurorus which are dropped by Snow Flinx, Ice Spiked Slimes and Undead Vikings. (20% drop chance.)
Helmet - 3 Def, 10 iridium bars, 15 ice blocks, 10 essence of Aurorus.
Breastplate - 4 DEF, 15 iridium bars, 25 ice blocks, 15 essence of Aurorus.
Greaves - 3 Def, 10 iridium bars, 15 ice blocks, 10 essence of Aurorus.
Set Bonus: +10% ranged damage, velocity, critical strike chance.
Essence of Aurorus and Antlions mandibles can also be used to make weapons for each class.
Claymore:
25 melee damage.
average speed.
average knockback.
1% critical strike chance.
Sand tomb:
Creates sandstorms like the ones created by the sand elemental.
25 magic damage.
slow speed
weak knockback
4% critical strike chance
Hallucination:
20 Ranged damage
average speed
average knockback
4% critical strike chance
good chance to poison enemies
Antlion knife:
20 throwing damage
weak knockback
very fast speed
4% critical strike chance
Frostbite:
20 melee damage
fast speed
average knockback
7% critical strike chance
Cold front:
8 magic damage
slow speed
no knockback
no critical strike chance
always freezes the enemy.
Borealis bow:
15 ranged damage
very fast speed
weak knockback
7% critical strike chance.
Icicle:
30 throwing damage
slow speed
weak knockback
small chance to slow enemies.
I sure these items will make the early game a bit more interesting if they were ever added. Thats all.
