Game Mechanics New Potion Revolving Around Debuffs and Buffs and a Brand New Debuff

With Terraria 1.4: Journey's End coming up, I have a potion and a debuff to suggest that would revolve around, well, buffs and debuffs, most namely their length.

The first potion would be crafted at an adamantite or titanium furnace and will cost five souls from any one of the mechanical bosses and five adamantite/titanium bars along with the obligatory bottle of water. This potion is mostly for players to take on the last few bosses in the game, and will do the following:
  • Cuts debuff time in half
  • Doubles buff time
To counter this, most bosses post mechanical boss will have a 1/1000 chance to inflict a new debuff after they attack. This debuff, when combined with the new potion, will return all stats to normal. The debuff will:
  • Cut buff time in half
  • Double debuff time
The idea isn't perfect, but with some modifications it could be something really good.

Thank you for listening to my idea, -Golden

This crafting recipe is far too expensive compared to how weak the effect is. Instead of drinking a potion to double buff time, people could just craft more potions. Cutting debuff time in half is also very weak, because you can just get hit with the debuff again, forcing you to waste another potion = 5 titanium bars. Putting valuable, nonrenewable resources in a potion recipe is not a good idea. Change the recipe.

A clumsier-than-average player might get hit somewhere between twenty to thirty times during a single boss fight. The chance that they will be hit by this debuff in any given fight would therefore be between 2% to 3%. As such, adding a 1/1000 debuff chance to bosses would be almost completely inconsequential. Either raise this chance, or remove it altogether--you reasoned that the buff extension potion is so powerful that it needs to be counterbalanced, but that is not true.
