NPC House Relocation

So when I first built my houses for my NPCs I built them on the ground. After I realized the ground was too dangerous for them I rebuilt houses higher up and then destroyed the mechanic's house. I left to go mining for a while and I came back to see that the mechanic was walking around where her old house was and her banner for some reason was all the way up on my space bridge. The only solution I could find was killing the mechanic and then the new one moved in. The same thing happened with my clothier and I don't want to have to kill every single NPC I have just to move them. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
 
There is no way to relocate NPCs in mobile...

You can always kill them and wait for them to respawn in proper housing... I did that long ago when i needed to move npcs to my floating manor. ;)
 
I fully prepared my other house and then bombed the old house and everyone in it. They respawned in my other house just fine the next day
