Before I get started I just want to say a few things. this is my first thread posted on these forums, so be patient with me. secondly, I imagine this will have been done before but once again, new to the forums so.. I haven't really taken a tour around the place and I'm already being overwhelmed by all these different options I can see while writing this.

The Astronomer!
The astronomer is a hardmode-NPC that can be found in the ocean biome at night time after defeating/surviving a solar eclipse. When the player first finds the NPC the astronomer will have animations where they look through a telescope. which is a new placeable background item with a 4x4 block area. the astronomer will have their own looping animation for looking through the telescope.
Requirements for them to move in

if you kill the cultists it summons the lunatic cultist who you can then farm.
after killing the lunatic cultist the 4 pillars WILL appear. and will act like normal pillars.

The ability to tell you what events are happening when!
currently in terraria at night time there's a chance of an event happening. well if they CHANGED the system to plan out what events will be happening when over the next 18 terraria days ahead of time this idea could work.
You pay the Astronomer 5
and then they tell you the closest events that are happening and when. they will say there will be a _______ in ______ days. example "there will be a blood moon in 12 days.
If however, there is NOT an event happening within 18 terraria days, the astronomer will give you back 2

The Astronomer!

The idea behind this NPC is to start/warn players of events, because in my opinion there should Nearly always be a way to skip a grind but it should Never be cheap.
Requirements for them to move in
- there needs to be an empty house
- there is no other NPC waiting to move in
- you must have found and talked to the astronomer
- They will only move in during the night time
- there must be a telescope in their room
- they won't move in during an event unless it's a blood moon.
- and that's it!

- wanna know why they call it a blood moon? because the moon is red like blood.. duh.

currently in terraria at night time there's a chance of an event happening. well if they CHANGED the system to plan out what events will be happening when over the next 18 terraria days ahead of time this idea could work.
