PC Planter Box Question

Is the only use to planter boxes the fact they act like platforms? Do they not speed up the growth of their respective plant if it is planted within? The wiki doesn't seem to indicate that they do.

I think they just do exactly the same thing as pots, but look nicer

Ah. Kind of disappointing, but I won't argue with having pots I can place just about anywhere I want.

They act the same as posts and act like platforms (meaning they are more compact than pots + platforms). The different kinds of planter boxes are just for aesthetic.
