Platinum replace Gold-bug

So I noticed this one thing. While I was trying to create a ruby staff I looked up the recipe on the terraria wiki and there i found that I needed gold to create one. But gold has not been spawned on the world so then I looked up what replaces it I noticed it was Platina, which does exist on the map. But Platina is only used to create diamond staffs and not ruby staffs?
Does that mean that I can't create ruby staffs on my world?

You can create a ruby staff on platinum worlds, but you'll have to collect silt and sludge and run that stuff through the Extractinator to get gold.

Alternatively, create a world that spawned with gold ores, and bring them over. World jumping is a feature.
