Pre-mech Duke fishron for lazy people (expert mode).

You start hardmode and the first thing you want to get your hands on are those weapons from duke fishron that if obtained early makes hardmode a joke but... you´re lazy (like me) so uhh yeah, what can we do?:

Armors:

You need some armor atleast, either for defense or for their bonuses, the easiest ones to get is adamandite armor for melee, ranger and mage or spider armor for summoner. If you have titanium throw it into the shimmer to get adamantite.

Weapons:

Unless you dare to fight duke with a pearlwood bow it will take some time to get a decent weapon.
  • Shadowflame knife for melee, if RNG is not on your side it can be hard to get but it´s worth it, inflicts a debuff and is easy to use.
  • Daedalus stormbow for ranged, same with shadowflame knife since can take time, best used with ichor arrows since they don´t need a quiver.
  • Sky fracture and golden shower for mage, sky fracture is an ugrade of magic missile so if you don´t have it you will spend some time in the dungeon, golden shower used to inflict ichor but will need the wizard to obtain.
  • Firecracker and sanguine staff for summoners, again if RNG is not with you firecracker could take quite some time to get, sanguine staffs needs preparation to get too.

For all classes:
  • Emblems: you get an emblem when defeating WoF so it´s pretty much free, shimmer it till you get the version for the class you are using.
  • Cloud in a ballon: for sure you still have this from pre-hardmode, keep it since it will be useful.
  • Cobalt shield: ez to get and you problaby still have it from pre-hardmode, can be useful to avoid getting stunlocked.
  • Worm scarf of brain of confusion: you get them in prehardmode and for free since defeating the evil bosses since with hardmode equipment they are a joke or if you didn´t skip them you already have the accesory.
  • Cross necklace: hardest one to get here but it´s worth it, double inmunity frames can be quite useful.

For melee:
  • Feral claws: easy to get and give you autoswing on melee weapons + 12% melee speed.

For ranged:
  • Quiver: I said it´s not neccesary with ichor arrows but it gives +10% damage to bows. 1/40 may look like it´s hard to get but skeleton archers are quite common in the caverns.

For mage:
  • Mana flower: autouse on mana potions and reduceds usage of mana though nature´s gift can take some time to get.

For summoners:
  • Pygmy necklace: +1 minion is great, sold by witch doctor at night in the jungle.

Mobility:

The Gelatinous Pillion is enough for duke fishron, it´s vertical mobility makes dodgin duke quite easy and it´s phase 3 a joke.

Buffs:
  • Pumpking pie: easy to get and plenty satisfied is enough.
  • Iron skin and regeneration potion: +8 defense and extra regen for only some water, dayblooms and lead/iron? Yessir.
  • Healing and mana potions: no need to explain this.

Arena:
You can either make an arena with campfires and heart lanterns or just just a water walking potion

to turn the ocean into an arena.

This is my first guide so if there is anything I can improve please let me know.
 
Spirit Flame is arguably the best mage weapons for Duke, additionally a setup of Forbidden Armor, Spirit Flame & Sanguine Staff is perhaps the best Pre-mech duke setup after Daedalus Stormbow. Takes grinding the desert biome though.

Considering how strong spirit flame is id’say it’s balanced by the grind to get it. I have beef with forbidden armor though, for a hybrid mage-summoner set just use adamantite with spider breastplate and greaves.
