Pumpkin Moon: Any Tips?

You can actuate your traps so you can fire down on the mobs and it will also prevent mobs from spawning on them.
 
Break the timer activating your traps and replace it with a switch put actuators on your traps and flick the switch once. Then remove the actuators replace the wires and put your timer back on.
 
You activate your traps with pressure plates? No wonder you are failing. You can craft timers with a gold watch and a wire which activates your traps for you and if you actuate them you can attack with your traps. It would also help if you put a picture in your posts.
 
1) Raid a couple of worlds to get multiple traps. Even a small world's Temple will have plenty of Spiky Ball traps, but Spear and Flame traps tend to be in short supply.
2) Put an Actuator on the trap. Activate the trap ONE TIME which actuates it into the background. Then use the wrench and pop the Actuator off again and leave it off.
3) Whatever area you stand on, make a 2-wide hole in the bottom with a couple of platforms so you can shoot down through it. Most enemies either won't be able to shoot back very accurately or (like Mourning Woods) they have shots that go through blocks anyway.
