Question on feasibility

A quick question for the modders out there. I want to make a mod that renames and changes the descriptions of all souls items in the game, as using creatures' souls to craft stuff is creepy. I know literally nothing about modding Terraria, and coding in general.

Is it feasible for me to try and klutz my way through and put something together, or would it mean spending weeks trying to learn coding to accomplish something fairly small? How hard is it to change items that already exist in the vanilla game?

This might be helpful: tModLoader - imkSushi's Data Packs Mod - Change item names and textures! Compatible with other mods! It's a sort of library mod for changing item names and textures. There is also guide there on how you can make a mod that uses it.

Yup, the example that comes with it loaded up fine in 0.11
