To begin, I have a laptop that's a few years old:
Dell Inspiron 17
6 GB DDR3 RAM
Intel i5-3337U @ 1.8 GHz
Intel HD Graphics 4000 / AMD Radeon HD 8730M
Displayed on a BenQ Zowie RL2455 at 1080x1920 due to having a destroyed screen.
I know these specs are by no means good in modern terms, but I have always been able to get 60 FPS at max settings ever since I first purchased Terraria. I get very very low FPS in-game now if I'm not in windowed at a very low resolution. I know this can't be a hardware-related problem since I have an Acer Cloudbook 14 that can run the game at a high framerate constantly. I can run other games (i.e. Skyrim, Borderlands 2, Witcher 3, etc.) at medium settings and they run perfectly. I've tried every solution I could find online, such as deleting Terraria and reinstalling, turning frame skip on, changing the lighting settings, turning Vsync off, etc. I tried to change the fullscreen resolution to 800x600 but it seems to be locked at my monitor's native resolution. I can upgrade to a much better computer but I'd like to see if I can solve this before spending any money. If anyone has a working solution please let me know.
