TL;DR: The trident gives the player a speed boost in the water, but the stopwatch doesn't register the improved speed.
When running in water (w/ hermes boots) at max speed, the stopwatch showed 17 mph, and I noticed when I switched to the trident to get that increased speed boost in the water, the speed displayed didn't change, despite an obvious visual increase in my player's actual speed.
I tried it with a mount equipped as well (the golf cart) and it got a little weirder. The speed displayed now was 20 with the trident selected, and 21 without it.
I would just guess the prediction method for determining the stopwatch speed didn't get an update to take into account the trident water buff when that update dropped, but I'm not a dev so who knows why it happens. But it happens.
