PC [Suggestion] Buy once, install anywhere

Terrarian
As valve has finally let their money get to their head, i think you might need a plan in case Steam finally continues its slide down en:red:tification street

Biggest problem with completely removing steam: it's just too convenient. One place for all your games, with 20 years of trust...

So why not allow you to buy a license elsewhere, which can be used to generate a steam key?

And for cheaper, because otherwise people won't do this - but since you don't have to pay Steam's 30%(!) cut this doesn't really matter.

and why not use that same license to generate, say, a GOG key? so if :red: truly hits the fan there's always a way to get Terraria on whatever storefront is being used, without having to buy it again.

Cheaper for customers, higher margins for developers, and a safety net against gaben. I must be missing something here...

This might be the most closed-minded, ignorant take I've ever made.

That being said, I don't see the issue here. Rich people buy dumb things all the time. What Gaben buys is irrelevant to Steam users.
30% is not some outrageous and rare number. Steam takes 30% for sales, yes, but so does Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo all take 30%. That's not unusual, it's industry average. From my very basic research I just did, GOG also takes 30%.

I'm not sure what ":red:" is going to hit the fan that you're mentioning, but everything seems normal to me. I'm sorry that EnikoFox can't afford reliable heat, but it sounds like he's just mad that Gaben  can.

tbf relogic is a small set of inde devs. They can have my money 2 (only 22$ which is REALLY GOOD FOR TODAYS STANDARDS COMPARED to games like mc 35$ which is also in the sand box catogry)times if they want. Just cus terraria a beast of a game. and also about value I think thats ok. yes 30% is all lot but at the same time its a big company with big plans(ex steam deck).

I don't know that much about valve other than that so I may be wrong.

With that logic in my region people complain they do not have money to live but buy at New Year Eve fireworks for 500€.
I remember in my uni the intro tutor who is supposed to help us to come in to uni bragged only with his RTX 4090 and how he was in Japan 7x with his GF. However he was like 3 or 4 semesters behind in his studies and plays all nights so he has only 2 hours of sleep every day.

It is the standard. So every Terraria purchase gives 3€ to Steam and when there is a sale, only 1.50€ go to Steam which is not much compared to other games.

Terraria is relatively cheap compared to things like Train Simulator where to get many tracks DLCs people pay 1000€ and still do not get a good experience. For me Terraria was the best 5€ investion in games I ever did (Did that during sales which appear every 3 months).

Also being jealous takes up even more psychological energy. Better is to be thankful on what you have than angry on what you do not have. E. g. I am thankful that I have access to the TCF and that this community not toxic like the LOL and CSGO community.

If there will be really a chaos, the devs will move all boulders to resolve the chaos, just like they did when the Unity trash happened. So the devs are not close minded people who only sit in phone cells doing nothing.

Pretty sure you're agreeing with everything I said, am I wrong?
