The character starts with a wrench and wire cutters and has to gather traps from the world to kill things. The only weapons they are allowed are the flare gun once they find it and the combat wrench once they defeat Skeletron to rescue (then kill) the mechanic NPC. It's played on a large world to allow for lots of traps to be available (and for traversal challenge). Only mining armour may be worn. It's still in progress but I'm into boss fights now and will be doing OOA soon.

This feels like it would be nearly impossible after pre-hardmode.... It's an interesting concept though!

Look, I’m an engineer. That means I solve problems. Not things such as “what is beauty,” because that would fall under the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. No, I solve practical problems. Like, for instance, how to I stop a mean mother hubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous new behind? Use gun. And if that doesn’t work, use more gun. Like this, heavy caliber tripod sentry gun designed by me, built by me, and you best hope not pointed at you.

Interesting you should say that. I've only played it up to the death of WoF, but if I continue I have some other limitations in mind. In keeping with the engineer theme I was going to allow the Optic Staff, OOA armour and weapons, and possibly some of the Martian weapons which I haven't looked into yet. Problem is that I've spent little time in hardmode since 1.2 as I'm normally playing hardcore, so I'm not familiar with newer content. edit: I wish there were mechanical wings. Hoverboard is pretty late in HM. Also I'm kind of against Calamity for this as I want it pretty vanilla, but might be open to smaller mods.
