Trap Door

I am trying to place a trap door. Everytime I select it from my inventory and move the cursor to where I want it and left click it automatically goes on my character and when I press ESC the character throws it, then when I walk near it, it automatically goes back to my inventory and the cycle starts over.

I don't know what I am doing wrong. I am new to Terreria.

Never mind. Figured out what I was doing wrong!!!!
