Mac Tried moving my character into the cloud save and it got deleted

I tried moving my character into the cloud save to play on another computer because I have to move somewhere else without my main pc setup. I have the Steam Cloud sync on, but when I tried to sync it, my character just got deleted. I tried relogging into the game, checking the files, and it wasn't there. Is there any way I can retrieve my character?

I had a space in my character name. I tried moving a character WITHOUT a space in their name into the cloud and it worked fine. Is this a bug?
