That's where golem gets its power. Think about it. The Lihzahrds are sun worshippers, right? Their idol, the Golem, is a pre-historic machine that shoots fireballs and heat rays. The altar you use to summon him has a sun floating above it. I see the connection there. Maybe it wasn't clear enough in the clue though.
