Linux Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64Bit - Terraria doesn't start

When starting with Steam it loads a bit and then...nothing.
When starting via the Terminal I get this:

What version did you download (windows,mac,or linux)
 
My client downloaded some game files to my Home/My Games/Terraria folder.

Try copying the Terraria folder mentioned above and paste it in your .local/share folder.

This seems to be caused by a recent change since "My Games" which is not a common folder for linux which the devs agreed to change here:

My game was trying to look for the Terraria folder in .local/share when it didn't exist nor was created upon the games installation, I deleted and downloaded the game again and the same happened. However, copying the folder to that location fixed the problem. Other than and my controller not working the game is working very well on my system so far.

Hope it works for you and hope that the devs are aware of this possible issue.
