My goal is to kill all the pre-hardmode bosses in the game. The problem is that I killed the Eye of Cthulhu in one world and killed the Eater of Worlds in another. Is that cheating?

Its going around your elbow to get to your 
, but not cheating. Another problem is if you want to complete the world you might want to kill the bosses in that world. Just go back to the first world and finish what you were doing.
