Well, I know over here in Canada we don't really have a reason to remember the date of Thanksgiving in the US. We celebrate it too, but earlier in September (for reasons I've never bothered to research because I'm lazy).
It's hard for people to remember holidays in other countries, I mean, most of the time I end up forgetting that Mardi Gras or Cinco de Mayo is a thing. Heck, a lot of the minor holidays here in the US I end up forgetting about...
It is because it's an American holiday. Stuff like Christmas and Easter are major holidays relating to a one of the major religions. Thus are more easily profitable for businesses and the like.
